Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!
We had a lovely weekend! After swimming on Saturday we took our moms and grandma out to lunch. The girls picked out flowers and made them cards. It was really nice to spend the time together and I was happy that it wasn't too busy at the restaurant! Sammie then went with Nana, and Erin and I headed home to work on the new veggie garden. (We now have green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce and radishes planted in our front flower bed!)
Sunday we headed to church and Father Nick gave a great sermon about motherhood. How a mother's love is created in the image of God's love for us. One line was mentioned in the sermon as well as in a poem read after the liturgy was over, along the lines of: "Becoming a mother is easy. Being a mother is not." How true, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
After church, George surprised me with a bird feeder for the backyard and we enjoyed watching the squirrels trying to figure out how to get to it! Sammie was on her best behavior and was trying to help me out as much as possible around the house. We also went to visit grandpa. The girls were pretending to be each other's cat. It was really cute and made grandpa smile! The evening ended with sugar getting a much needed bath, the kids going to bed and George letting me watch what I wanted on TV. ;) Overall, it a wonderful Mother's Day!
