Concert in the Park . . .Sort Of

George, the kids and I took grandma-great to see the Concert in the Park at the McKinley Monument. The Canton Symphony Orchestra was supposed to have a concert and then play music for the fireworks display. We ran into some friends and set up camp with them. It wasn't too bad when we got there, but as the evening progressed, it got colder and colder and even started to rain lightly. The kids amused themselves by playing leapfrog (pictured above) and by playing witches and princesses by tying blankets around them as capes or dresses. Finally, around 9pm, the orchestra played a very small amount while the fireworks started going off. The music ended before the fireworks and we were left with only the sound of the fireworks. It wasn't even dark yet, so the fireworks weren't as grand as they could have been. Erin did not like the fireworks. She was ok with watching the lights but did not like how loud they were. Thank goodness blankie was there to protect her ears! ;) We had a good time though despite the weather and lack of music and look forward to this event next year!
